The kit includes two lead pipes intended for installation on the body of lead gas-tight sleeves. The gas-tight sleeves are installed on the following cables with paper wire insulation: TG, TB, TZG, TZB, TZAShP, TZABpShP, TZABp.
Pressure blocking closures are installed on TG and TB cables with capacity in the range of 100-1200 pairs.
They also are installed on TZG and TZB cables with capacity in the range of 3-114 quads.
Single-cone MSSO-type lead closures or MSSR-type closures with split-type bodies are used as bodies for installation pressure blocking closures. The sleeves are installed directly at the site of their permanent operation and filled with MKS-M compound with the addition of rosin. There is no need to cut the cable to install a pressure blocking closure.
Modern CCD closures and materials required for filling and dismantling gas-tight sleeves are specified in the instruction for filling gas-tight sleeves compliant with the rules for gas-tight sleeve installation, an extract from guidelines of the Ministry of Communications of the USSR and the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation.
In modern conditions, in addition to its main purpose, in the absence of available cables in lead sheaths, the pipes are used to assemble mock-ups of joints soldered to lead sleeves during their regular factory tests, in course of on-site sleeves checkup or during training.
Soldered sleeves can be installed under excessive air pressure and inspected for tightness.
In the CCD Training Center, models with lead pipes are used at workshops on hot soldering of lead sleeves during the trainings on the following directions "communication system installer, solderer" and "cable splicer, solderer".
