The MTOK-V2 Dome Closure Kit is used for jointing any underground (OPUG) cable in all types of soils, and for submarine cable installed across rivers, lakes, and swamps. This is achieved using specific cable entry kits that correspond toeach specific cable group.
The oval closure port is intended to enter and seal the transit loop of cable buffer tubes without cutting. The loop of buffer tubes is laid out in the winding cartridge on the opposite side of the splice tray.
The MTOK-V2 Closure Kit is similar to MTOK-B1 Closure Kit except for the method of dome and head sealing, and the use of stiffeners on the dome. The MTOK-V2 closure body and head are sealed mechanically using a stainless steel tie clamp.
The cable insertion, central strength member fastening, and cable ports sealing are achieved using special cable entries that provide unique features and capabilities:
- solid anchoring of armored cable (bears up to 15 kN force at break),
- protection against twisting of armored cables during operation,
- electric contact between the cable armor and the special entry (fitting) body,
- option of insulation or connection the armor of all cable straight in the same closure,
- longitudinal sealing of inserted cables,
- option to lead out the grounding wire (test wire) from the armor of each cable.
The MTOK-V2 closure is supplied with two cable entry sealing kits: # 4 or # 5. The closure can also be ordered with one # 4 and one # 5 cable entry sealing kits. In case it is necessary to ins ert more cables in to the closure, additional cable entry sealing kits must be purchased. The extra cable entry sealing kits must comply with the optical cable design.
The oval cable port of the closure can be used for either of the following cases: 1) insertion of four thin cables including the grounding wires or 2) feeding a transit cable buffer tube loop or 3) insertion of two cables up to 25 mm OD. For the second and third cases, it is required to use an extra item Closure Entry Sealing Kit # 9 to ensure the sealing. This item can be purchased separately.
Without the transit cable loop, the total number of cables inserted in the closure can reach 8 cables.
If the closure is mounted in pits, it is required to purchase additional mechanical and mud protection closures MCHZ or MPZ depending on the soil type.
The Bracket for Closure Installation in manholes must be purchased to install the closure in cable duct manholes or cable rooms.
