The RMM Metal Buffer Tube Cut-off Tool is used to perform annular cut of stainless steel buffer tubes with 1.9 - 6.0 mm OD. The tool prevents fibers from damage during the cutting of buffer tubes .
The tool rotation around the buffer tube axis along with the gradual extension of the roller cutter and shaping rollers create an annular groove on the buffer tube. Then the buffer tube is cut in an annular section close to the groove.
When the inner channel of the buffer tube is narrowed below the annular groove, the fibers move outward from the inner wall of the buffer tube. This prevents the fibers from contacting the sharp edge of the cut buffer tube.
The tool is designed specifically for cables with stainless steel buffer tubes. The tool can also be used with aluminum-clad stainless steel buffer tubes. The CCD RMM Cut-off Tool Spare Parts Kit is required for the replacement of worn parts. Spare parts are stored in the RMM tool crowfoot screw handle.
