The CCD UPOV-MM62-FC/PС device is used to ensure quick connection of non-terminated fiber optic line to the test equipment in the installation process. The device can be used with OTDR, laser light source, optical power meter, telephone using modulated light and other equipment.
It consists of a base that accommodates a modified FC adapter with an integrated stopper. A ceramic ferrule along with a metal holder and a spring are inserted into the FC adapter from the stopper side to ensure that the ferrule flange is flush with the stopper surface. The connection point of between the ferrule and the adapter is protected by housing with an axial hole. The housing is screwed into the base threaded part. A thick immersion gel is applied to the end-face of the ceramic ferrule. Protective caps are screwed onto the outside part of FC adapter and on the housing end-face.
In order to connect a patch cord to FC adapter, it is needed to remove its protective cap. Then the patch cord is connected to a device (for example, to a telephone using modulated light). When the protective cap is removed from the UPOV housing, the fiber with stripped primary coating is inserted into the housing opening until it contacts the polished ferrule end-face of the patch cord connector. The junction area between the fiber cores is filled with index matching gel, therefore the quality of the I/O optical emission into the connected fiber is enough to perform routine operations.
The device helps to reduce costs and time of connection the fiber to the equipment also because there is no need to use a fiber cleaving tool.
The kit includes: UPOV assembly -1 pc., 1.5 m long patch cord, (connector type: FC/PC - FC/PC) -1 pc., adapter cleaning wire - 1 pack, mini cleaning brushes for adapters - 20 pcs., Refractive Index Matching gel - 1 pack, instruction manual – 1 pc.
The device is supplied in a transportation case with a polyurethane foam plate with nests for safe accommodation of UPOV components.
