Designed to ground the armor of communication cables when entering them into telephone central offices. Used on both electrical and fiber-optic communication cables.
It is a dielectric plate with five bolts with nuts and washers are inserted in holes. Bolts are used as terminals. Bolts are used for grounding the maximum possible current. For example, lightning current that can enter the cable.
A wire coming from the ground loop of the telephone Central office is connected to one of the bolts. Wires from the armor of four cables are connected to the rest. The terminal bolts are connected by steel bars.
The presence of five terminals allows the shield to be used as a KIP-2 panel.
The grounding panel is installed on the walls or on metal constructions of cable rooms or vaults of telephone exchange offices.
If the grounding shield needs to be installed on metal constructions, then it is placed on the insulating shield so that the heads of the terminal bolts do not touch the metal structures.
During operation, the bolt-terminals with connected wires are connected by steel bars. If necessary, the busbars can be removed and the insulation resistance of the cable sheaths or protective coverings on each electrical communication cable of the “Shp” or “BbShp” type can be measured.
When performing emergency recovery work, generators of cable locating units can be connected through the grounding wires to the cable armor.
To connect cables to the grounding panel, it is recommended to use ready-made SSD products - “Grounding wire kits” with preinstaled lugs.
